Christine Dakin

Dakin, whose rich career has included work with Russian dance star Rudolf Nureyev, spent three weeks as a guest choreographer and teacher with Vladivostok's Chamber Dance Theater directed by Olga Bavdilovich. She joined the company in a performance June I at the Gorky Theater.

A member of the Martha Graham Dance Company since 1976, Dakin is known for her ferocity on stage and has inherited many of the roles first danced by Graham herself, including Medea in "Cave of the Heart," the bride in "Appalachian Spring" and Jocasta in "Night Journey".

She is one of the dance world's most respected teachers and serves on the faculties of Julliard, the Alvin Aildy American Dance Center and the Martha Graham School.
